VRS Vehicle Recognition System for Farm Weighbridges
Automate your farm weighbridge with a fast, safe and cost-effective vehicle recognition system
Parkerfarm’s VRS Vehicle Recognition System is an advanced solution designed to automate farm weighbridge operations, helping agricultural businesses improve efficiency, accuracy and on-site safety. Built using proven wireless technology, our system enables drivers to complete weighbridge transactions quickly and securely without leaving the cab.
For farms and agricultural businesses where time is critical during harvest, the VRS system helps reduce delays, remove manual processes and streamline vehicle weighing. It is particularly suited to tractor and trailer combinations, where traditional driver-operated weighbridge systems can be slow, inconvenient and potentially unsafe.
What is the Parkerfarm VRS Vehicle Recognition System?
The Parkerfarm Vehicle Recognition System uses a coded key fob transmitter carried by the driver and an external receiver connected to the Agri FlyNet50 weight indicator, which is typically installed in the weighbridge office. Each key fob is programmed with the unique details of the vehicle, allowing the system to identify the vehicle automatically and begin the weighing process.
The receiver can be mounted up to 100 metres from the weighbridge (depending on line of sight), making it a flexible solution for a wide range of farm layouts. For additional visibility and driver guidance, the system can also be paired with an optional RD52HL high-visibility external display.
Key benefits of the VRS farm weighbridge system
The Parkerfarm VRS system has been developed to deliver practical benefits for busy agricultural sites, including:
- Faster weighbridge processing during harvest and peak traffic periods
- Improved farm safety by allowing drivers to remain inside the vehicle
- Reduced labour requirements with no need to constantly man the weighbridge office
- Automatic data capture and storage through the Agri FlyNet50 touchscreen terminal
- Retrofit compatibility for existing farm weighbridges
- Optional bi-directional operation for enhanced site flexibility
- No mains power required at the weighbridge unless a remote display is fitted
This makes the VRS system an ideal choice for farms looking to modernise their weighbridge automation, improve reporting and increase overall operational efficiency.
How the vehicle recognition system works
During a typical weighing transaction, the driver positions the empty vehicle on the weighbridge while the traffic lights show green. The driver then activates the system using the pre-coded key fob. Once the vehicle is recognised, the traffic lights switch to red and the weighing sequence begins automatically.
When the weighing process is complete, the traffic lights return to green and the driver exits the weighbridge. An optional Parkerfarm STB-Range printer can provide an instant printout for the driver, while completed weigh tickets can also be emailed directly to the farm office in real time. Daily transaction reports can be sent in CSV format to the farm manager for easy record keeping and analysis.
Weighbridge data capture and reporting
The VRS system works seamlessly with the Agri FlyNet50 touchscreen indicator, automatically storing weighing and product data for each transaction. Three open data fields are available and can be entered directly via the touchscreen terminal.
Typical data fields include:
- Vehicle tare weight
- Product being carried
- Field being harvested
- Moisture content linked to the crop
Detailed reports can be printed or downloaded from the FlyNet50 terminal, including:
- Field yields
- Crop totals
- Vehicle totals
- Partial totals and grand totals by day, month or year
This helps farms maintain accurate records, track crop movements, and improve management reporting throughout the season.
