Maintaining the long-term accuracy of your weighbridge or industrial scale is essential, especially if the equipment is ‘legal-for-trade’ approved. Parkerfarm offer comprehensive service plans to ensure ongoing reliability and accuracy.

Inaccurate weighbridges and scales could result in lost revenue

Firstly, if your weighing equipment is stamped (i.e. legal for trade) you have an obligation to ensure your scales meet the required accuracy levels (you can find out what these are by downloading our Guide to Self Verification in our technical document download section). Failure to comply can result in scales being removed from service by Trading Standards and leave users open to prosecution.

Secondly, inaccurate weighing equipment can result in either you losing revenue by supplying more product to your customer than you are charging them for, or supplying less than the required amount (which is illegal and can affect relationships with your customers.) In addition if you use your weighbridge to check incoming goods such as fertilizers or animal feed, you need to ensure you are being delivered charged for the correct amount.

Thirdly, inaccurate vehicle scales (weighbridges) can result in vehicles being overloaded. Not only is this unsafe, but it causes unnecessary highway damage to roads and bridges and can result in drivers/operators receiving prosecution notices and  fines. Further information can be found in the Government document on vehicle enforcement weighing.

Calibrating your weighbridge involves the placing of large calibrated reference weights on the weighbridge deck and checking the corresponding output from the digital weight display. Weights are distributed in a regulated pattern at various locations across the deck plate. Weight tolerances are checked in accordance with EN45501.

Parkerfarm offer a comprehensive portfolio of weighbridge and scale service contracts, designed to keep your weighing equipment in tip-top condition.

Our service contracts are built around your exact requirements and may range from a simple annual calibration for a single scale, through to a site-wide contract for a diverse range of weighbridges, weighing equipment and instrumentation.
